What is the answer to this math riddle?

A cube that is 4x4 on each edge was dipped in blue paint. It is then sliced into cubes that are 1x1 on each edge. How many 1x1 cubes have 1 side painted blue, 2 sides, 3 sides or none?

24: 2 sided

4 have 3 sides, and
the rest (4) have no sides

just picture the cube, it takes thought, but its not as hard as it seems
