...general? Hello, I am planning a 2-day hiking trip in Washington State during the month of August. I am coming from the Tri-cities area and meeting some people from Seattle, so Mt. Rainier NP seems like an obvious possibility based on its location (although we would consider anything else reasonably close as well). We are experienced hikers and are in shape but have no technical experience (i.e., climbing Rainier is out of our league). We would like to avoid the crowds and are willing to camp/go backcountry if that helps find solitude. Of course, that means we would need to be able to obtain any necessary permits in the less-than-two months that we have before going. Any suggestions for challenging two-day hikes in the area?
