What is the best 30-06 hunting rifle I can get with a Scope under $600?

I am looking for the best rifle and scope under $600. Let me know what you think and why? I would like to find one with a camo stock but havent seen one in this price range. Is a realtree camo stock needed if I will be primarily hunting deer in NC? I want to go with the 30-06 because I want to hunt bigger game also.
 
A good scope, with mounts will run a min of 300 dollars leaving only 300 for the gun.

I would look into a used Remington 700, or used Winchester 70.

If you dont find one buy a new H&R 1871 Synthetic Stainless Handi Rifle in 30-06. They go about 200 to 250 new, and will shoot great, and last forever. They are a single shot gun, but that is all you need.

In the future when you want another caliber, send the gun to the company, and they will fit a new barrel for about 100 bucks. Buy a second scope, and you have 2 calibers for about 1000 dollars, both scoped.
 
Savage Makes some very nice and modestly priced 30-06 bolt guns.

You could always check at Pawnshop and Guns stores for used guns.

I really don't see the need for camo stocks Deer are color blind BTW.
