I want to buy a fitness machine but there are so many options. I want one that tones pretty much your whole body (stomach, thighs,buttocks,arms,legs...etc.) and if not tones as mmany parts possible. What would you guys recommend treadmill, elliptical trainer, rower...etc and if you guys know other types can you tell me the name of the machine and what it does and what part of your body it tones.

Thanx guys.

First of all, just understand that there is no fitness machine that you won't eventually get bored with. That said, you want one that uses both your arms and legs. I'd also choose one that keeps your brain a little bit entertained with programmable levels, real-time heart monitor, MP3 Jack, etc..

Running outdoors is good exercise, but it cannot always be done..Also, after so many years of running, it wears and tears the body..Bike riding is great for a while, but you're always sitting on your butt.. I've used a lot of different things and I'd have to say the Elliptical Trainer is the best for an overall workout, that won't wear tiresome and boring.. Try looking at some in the $500-$800 range and work your way up or down from there.

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but it's the cheapest one! YOU are the best machine for a toned body. Machines assist you and give you the correct positions so that you don't hurt yourself - but I would suggest doing core exercises. You can google tons of exercises that will tell you which exercise works out what part of your body. Treadmill, elliptical, Rower are all cardio machines (rower would be best because you use arms and legs) - which are good for burning calories. To get toned you need some weight training. Crunces, pushups, leg lifts, squats, sit ups.

To suggest a machine: At home we bought the Tower 200 - found it cheap on Kijiji (its a classifieds site). My boyfriend reallys likes it - in 11 minutes you work out your entire body to a video and all you need is a door. He adds on the 10 minute optional ab workout for a total of 21 minutes and he is sweating and tired at the end.
