What is the best hunting shotgun?

Currently use father's Remington 1100 or 870 for Dove hunting. Looking for a good all around Shotgun to buy for my self for bird hunting.

Any shotgun with a 26"-28" barrel and can accept chokes. Really if you buy quality your not going to have issue. What problems do you have with your fathers guns?
