What is the best SUV for long trips?

A few of my friends and I want go across USA this summer. But we have a problem- We don't know what to drive.

We are renting the SUV.

We want to take a Land Rover Range Rover, but its just to expensive. I can't drive my BMW X3 because it's too small.

What should we take?

The SUV should be able to hold 7 people.

From my experience, the Honda Pilot is definitely an option to consider (for not being overpriced such as the Land Rover).
