I've heard that you shouldn't quit cold-turkey because withdrawal is bad for a fetus, but I've also heard that you should stop instantly. What do you think? And...the "you shouldn't have started" answer is not helpful. Thanks if you can help!
A mothers love for her child should be enough to quit instantly.
Think about the health of the baby.
Lungs the size of poppyseeds breathing in your nasty smoke.
Its best to just stop.
I had that problem too! Eat lots of fruits, veggies, drink V8, tomato juice and other health stuff, it'll make the cigs taste like they should: BAD! As the antioxidants will cleanse your tongue. I managed to mostly quit by eating and more eating while pregnant.
Oh something to watch out for while pregnant when near or in the last trimester: It says in the pregnancy books that you'll get tired, and you'll have a harder time breathing as the baby is squashing your lungs or what ever. Every time you go to the doctor INSIST that they check your longs for pneumonia!! Because nobody caught the pneumonia I had my son was born 2 months early! (And yes I had quit smoking way before that.) So be bossy and Make them check your lungs every single time. You'll be glad you did. Good luck and I hope your baby comes out healthy!
(Mine came out healthy just early, you should see him he's a bundle of energy, smart, and gaining weight every day ^-^)
Well try to cut back a lot. The drs say if its impossible to quit to have 3-4 a day maximum.. Everytime you smoke it may not cause immediate damage to the fetus but it cuts off their air supply and studies have shown it has a long term effect later in life.
