What is the difference between Nintendo's DS Lite, DSi and 3DS?

I know that the Lite is smaller than the original DS, I think the DSi can access the internet (Wi-Fi) and that the 3DS is well, 3D. I'm looking at getting a used 3DS for PAX East next month (I currently have a DS Lite) but I want to make sure it's worth it. Can the 3DS play all the regular DS games? Can it 'do' internet (I'd hope so)?

Any opinions or info (of a helpful nature) would be appreciated.
