What is the difference in TV-14 and PG-13?

Why do they not just say TV-13 or something like that, because if you watch a PG-13 movie, they use much more bad language and nudity and violence than they do a TV-14 show. By the way, I am 13, do you think it is okay for me to watch TV-14 shows? My mom lets me, but I want your opinion.

TV 14 means you need to be 14! At your age...if you are going to break this rule you will certainly break other rules. I can see it now....when you are 16 and you begin to drive you will break the red light rule. You'll run that red light...get smacked by a semi and then you'll be no good to anyone. So please obey the rules....noone wants to lose you kiddo!
