Compared to other countries'?
I've heard it's wry but don't really see that as a great description
what do French people find funny?
do they find death funny? i dont mean in a weird way i mean in a black comedy way.

was that movie, 2 days in paris by any chance?
 
It's hard to say. What's funny in France nowadays is often political, sarcastic or even snide.(Stephane Guillon, Anne roumanov...)
But everyone likes someone like Gad Elmaleh who is nothing of the above :)
