Are Computer programmers/scientists truly the future of our technology, or will everybody learn how to program and be computer scientists and thus everyone will be engineers.
You've hit on a near-term social problem, which is that too many teenagers have read the articles saying that only engineers can have jobs, and therefore too many teenagers are seeking to become engineers, and therefore it is likely that there will be more engineers trained (in five years) than can be employed. Nevertheless, the long-term employment picture for engineers and computer programmers is certainly brighter than for persons not so trained.
