What is the intake valve seating for a 99 VW engine made of?

Is it made of aluminum, steel, or a hardened steel? A bolt fell into the intake manifolf without me knowing and it got pinched between the valve and valve seating. I am wondering what material the seating is made from so i know how much damage could have been done to it
