What is the point of picture of a car in my 97 Ford Fiesta LX 5 door?

It has a picture of a car from top down view, doesn't seem to light up or do anything.
Nope thats what i thought, but it doesn't :S
Well i guess if that's what people are saying it must be! But i guess it is not working, thanks guys it had been bugging me for ages!
 
Chances are it's just a blanking plate on a space on the dash where there'd be a rev counter or some other extra gauge if it were a posh model.

If it is working it well show you if you have a door ajar it well light up on that side and in the position of ether a front or back door that may be open.
