what is the procedure to pick up a container at a port in florida coming from...

...another country? im new to the scraping business i have some body sending me a container with metal in it its going to be in florida some time next week i dont know how this works i need to send a truck to retrive it and bring it to me in chicago will the port authority need special paper work or something if any body knows about this sort of thing please let me know

You need an import broker to handle this for you. Some carriers have their own brokers. Or look in the Yellow Pages for import broker or freight forwarding agents and they'll handle the paperwork with you and then arrange for a trucking outfit to deliver it to you once it clears customs. Has the shipper sent you any paperwork? I hope you have access to a fax machine to help speed up the paperwork.
