What is the punishment (legal action) for a conflict of interest with jobs?

I had a job interview today at Carson Pierre Scott and I also work at Kohls. They asked my why I applied to work at Carsons and if I still work at Kohls currently because if I do then that is a conflict of interest. So I lied and told them I will quit Kohls but I don't plan on doing so. I just want to know if there's any way for them to find out that I work at both places other than what they saw on my resume. Also, if they were to find out any way then is there some sort of legal action they can take against me? What is the worst that can happen?
