What is the purpose of installing an "Uninstaller" for Motorola Droid?

Can someone explain to me why there are so many "Uninstaller" apps in the Android market and why people download them?

What happens if I go to "Settings"... "Applications"... "Manage applications"... and uninstall an application from there?

Does the "Uninstaller" app by Rhythm Software uninstall applications more thoroughly than going through Settings?

Does uninstalling an app through Settings leave traces of that deleted app on my phone?

Uninstalling via Settings (or via Market) does exactly the same thing as an uninstaller app. I think the reason there are lots of uninstall apps is because they *are* easier to use than Settings or Market, if all you want to do is uninstall.

Another class of app that bugs me are task killers. I used one for about a month, constantly killing apps I didn't regularly use, and despite that I found my phone could still get laggy after a couple of days if I didn't shut it off (and my phone would sometimes just act weird). Then I read an article that explained how Android multitasking works, and I decided to stop using the task killer, and guess what? My phone is *less* laggy than before, and battery life is unchanged. And I don't need to try to guess which apps are safe to kill and which aren't.
