Last I heard, RMS (RootMeanSquared) was .707 of the peak voltage or 1.414 of the peak to peak voltage which results in a voltage value and not wattage value. If you need to know the max wattage of your speakers ever think of looking on the speaker itself for the value?
PS A speaker may be rated in Ohms, in which case I squared R would give you a power rating but you'd need to know how much current flows through the speakers. Of course you probably already know the power rating of your speakers so why ask?
