My home theater receiver's capacity is 140 watts per channel. What is the effect if I use a speaker with a specification of 200 watts (max power handling)? Will the receiver work twice to provide the needed power or the speaker will not sound as good as it can be?

If i have a amp the is rated at 1000 Rms at 2 ohms and 600 rms at 4 ohms, and i wire my sub to 4 ohms. is my amp drawing 1000 watts from my battery, or 600 watts? Im asking this because I'm not sure if i should get 8 gauge wire or 4 gauge wire.

Last I heard, RMS (RootMeanSquared) was .707 of the peak voltage or 1.414 of the peak to peak voltage which results in a voltage value and not wattage value. If you need to know the max wattage of your speakers ever think of looking on the speaker itself for the value?
