I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited; apparently it came with "premium" sound--Infinity Gold Speakers, and an amp, but I think all the speakers need to be replaced. I want to invest no more than $1000 in this system. I am basically looking for a system that emphasizes quality more than power. I need to be able to hear the bass AND the vocals clearly, and would prefer them to be more balanced rather than ALL BASS. My friend has 2 JL Audio 12's and that is WAY TOO LOUD for me. That being said, I want this system to bump just enough for me to feel the bass vibrate in my seat. I do not want my bass to shake all the cars around me though. I have had infinity speakers before in previous cars and LOVE THEM so I would like to stay with that brand for the speakers if I can.
Basically, I would like to know:
1. Can I buy a decent system with $1000?
2. What size subwoofers should I look at? What brands? What is better-- 2 10's or 1 12 subwoofer?
3. What specific components do I need for a new system? i.e. deck, speakers, etc.
4. I saw that there are six speakers in my car; there is one speaker in each door, and two on the dashboard. Do I just get regular speakers on the dashboard???
Any help would be great. I am totally clueless when it comes to this stuff.
