What kind of fluid is ok to use in a two stroke dirt bike?

I have a 97 kx 250 and I got new clutch plates but before I put them in I need to soak them then refill the crankcase.I know that gear saver is a good fluid but its about nine bucks a quart now and Its basically just automatic trans fluid.Is plain ol trans fluid ok to use?

Kawasaki recommends ordinary 4 stroke 10W40 motor oil.
Kawasaki made the bike.
I think they would know what to put in it.
