Because really, most people use knives inside just as much as they do outside. Just today I used a knife to open my mail, open a package of batteries, pry a open a plastic battery compartment on a guitar tuner, cut chicken and vegitables for my dinner, scrape a sticker off a candy tin I wanted to put small odds-and-ends in, and fix a jammed printer. I don't think I used it once outside today, though that isn't always the case of course.
