what literally is a laugh?

this sounds kinda dumb but really what happens in your body that causes/ is a laugh

for example: i no what a cough is ........its when you body trys to take something out of its lung or anything blockin in the way of the breathing tubes...........thats not what im asking...........im asking (for example) what is a cough as in it is a jerking motion from your diaphram causing a forced exhertion of wind from your lungs pushing air through your tubes trying to unblock your breathing tubes (if im wrong on the coughing thing it was just an example to explain my Q?)

so what im asking is what is a laugh literally? (i know jokes make us laugh and also tickeling)
