what negativity do you know of Abraham Lincoln?

Many say he's the greatest president of all and i'm not denying that but nobody's perfect. I read that he was often self-contradictory..in whats ways was he like that? what decisions did he make that made him seem that way?

Lincoln's plan for bringing the Confederacy back into the Union did not include suffrage for the "black" slaves. There has been controversy over this, but he also did nothing about the enslaved Native Americans. It is most commonly believe though, about the "black" suffrage not being included in the plan was because it would have created a lot of tension in the South.

I know there are other things, but I'm drawing a blank sorry. The way i see it, he was better than many in the circumstances he was in.

The only reason he freed the slaves was to punish the South for receding from the Union. The states that didn't recede were allowed to keep their slaves.
Most people assume because he freed the slaves he did so out of goodwill when in fact it was simply political strategy.
