My male betta is the only one in the tank and i would like to put more fish in but i want the fish to getr along....lol What should i buy?

Most pet stores mix male bettas with other tropical fish such as mollies, guppy's(males preferrably unless ya want a thousand of em) neon's, sowrdtails etc.
I have 2 35 gallon tanks that carry all of these particular fish and they have been going strong for 2 years or more now.
Just make sure you have a good filtration system and air.
Good Luck with your fish!

mid-bottom swimming fish. if your tank is matured and has a soft sandy substrate you could try pygmy corys (regular corys are too large for a 10 gallon). or maybe some shrimp.

depending on the personality of your betta, he may not be bothered by tankmates, or he may harass them constantly. top-dwelling and shoaling fish tend to bother bettas, and will out compete a betta to his dinner. i have a male betta in with endlers livebearers but i would not recommend it, feeding time is very tricky! the betta has never attacked the endlers, tried to chase, but they're faster.

i have had success with corydoras habrosus, amano shrimp and otocinclus.

they should never be kept with gouramis, the gouramis will attack the betta, and not with very colourful fish such as guppies or platys as the betta may feel threatened and fooled into think they're another betta and disaster will ensue.

all commonly found tetras (neons, cardinals etc) really prefer a larger tank than 10 gallons, i wouldn't keep them in any less than 15 gallons as they're active fish. serpae tetras would shred a betta to pieces, as would tiger barbs.
