My favorite author is Clifford Simack, I have read quite a lot of sci-fi books the list would be big, I am very familiar with the science-fiction within USA, USSR, Europe. So to get a specific answer, I would like you to suggest me something new, authors activating in 90's and nowadays, that impressed you involving themes like nuclear war, apocalypse, social disasters but awesomely depicted.

Thank you in advance.

You should REALLY check out the author Eric Brown from the UK. He is simply amazing and the next big thing in SF. If found out about him reading an issue of Clarkesworld Magazine which contained one of his short stories.

He wrote a novel called 'Guardians of the Phoenix' which takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. The entire earth is covered in sand and follows a man and his survival under the blistering sun in modern day Paris.
