what should i do what breeder do i go to which dog should i get what i really want is what would you do if you were in my sistuation of buying a dog

Do a serch for the national club of the breed you want.

Newfs...Newfoundland Club of America.

Labs..search for Labrador Ret. Club of America.

Which ever breed you are looking for, it has a parent club. They have a breeder list. Or they list regional clubs and they have the list of breeders local to that area.

First, decide what kind of dog you want. From your questions, you haven't even started thinking about THAT seriously.

Then, talk to EVERYONE ELSE in the house, since everyone has to live with the dog, and decide as a family what kind of dog to get.

Then decide if you can afford not only the dog, but the food, the toys, the veterinary care, the shots, the license, the collar, the leash, and all the other expenses that come with getting a dog.

Then my personal recommendation is "the heck with breeders - adopt from a rescue group and save a life".
