I have an essay due in twelve hours and I'm still struggling with a topic. It must be an "analytical, argumentative essay" about one of two readings: Aurora Leigh by Elizabeth Barrett Browning or North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. The topic areas are:
Aurora Leigh:
1. The female poet
2. Mothers
North and South:
1. The South
2. Industry/Labor
We are instructed to narrow the topic to a more specific argument and write a 1600-1900 word essay arguing our thesis. Help me! I need a good topic that is narrow enough for me to write a decent essay with "sound, text-based argumentation and analysis." I would prefer to write about Aurora Leigh, but a good topic about North and South would be fine as well. I know I'm an idiot for leaving this off until the last second, but I've really been struggling to find a good topic. If you've read either or both novels and can suggest a good topic, I would really appreciate it!!!
