What to wear while in Italy?? Fashion help for men?

So I will be in Rome for 5 weeks this coming summer, and I do not want to stand out like a typical American tourist. I know fashion is huge over there, so I would like to know what to wear, and how to wear it. I am a 20 year old male college student with an athletic build, so if you could use that as a reference that would be awesome, and any links or pictures would be sweet too!!
