Hey guys, I'm a newbie when it comes to Martial Arts *just started taking some Muay Thai classes*. I would like to know what type of Martial Art teaches these types of kicks in the video between 0.27-0.30 by Michael Jai White. Yes I am aware that Muay Thai doesn't teach it but I would like to know what category they fall under.

Thanks guys.
Kool man. If you watch the entire movie a.k.a the entire fight scene you'll see that Michael Jai White really f*ked him up before the 3 taps. There's no way on earth that big guy would've been in any condition to throw a hook.

Lies! To say "It wouldn't work" shows ignorance. The techniques are in the style as they were of an applicable nature when they were taken into the art. The kicks of the Muay Thai fighters were effective against the Burmese and it being a hard style proves its metal in almost any situation save grappling. The Koreans used the kicking arts to keep distance with their opponents and to deliver maximum damage an arm could not. All techniques have a place.

Now, about your question: You can learn those kicks in Karate (Yuishinkai teaches them, Shotokai etc), Kickboxing (any K-1 gym), Tae Kwon Do, Shaolin Kung Fu even Krav Maga and Pankration.

Word of advice, no problem with learning techniques outside of your art to enhance your performance. =)

TKD. It wouldn't work in real life though. A trained fighter would see that you're going to spin for your kick. That's why no one uses it in real life. Maybe if you're fighting against someone that's completely untrained.
