what type of sensors can be put on a car in order to keep track of it? and

to what extent does it work? i know this is extremly illegal, but i think i've got a sensor on my car, i'm being followed everywhere by insurance. does anyone know what type of sensor to look for? where they would normally place it? and what exactly it keeps track of?
any help would be greatly appreciated!!
