what type of subwoofer will hit harder on a suv?

ported boxes are usually 3 db louder than the same system in a sealed box... if you want loud definitely go ported

go with a ported enclosure, preferably a custom built box according to the subwoofers' specs. A ported sub will give you deep boomy bass that will shake things up for you.
