what would be the best tyres?

Avon are good, never heard of Federal, mine has Continentals, but they all handle like a pig regardless of the tyres.
 
the difference is in the compound, avon tyres are a softer compound and therefore will give you better grip but the downside of that is they will wear out quicker so you will get less mileage on them, so federal will give you more mileage but less grip.
