what's that handheld saw I saw on tv, you can go against walls and interchange

blades? I'm pretty sure there was an informercial for it, but then I saw it being used on the diy network too.
It's got a flat, square blade, and can cut right up against walls. I think you could interchange the blade for a sander or something too.
you're right! it does move side to side. thank you! i'm looking for the particular thing I saw on tv. this will help my search!

The one you saw on TV is the Fein; a very high quality and relatively expensive tool but top of the line. Dremel makes one as well with less power and smaller blades but similar applications. Rockwell also makes one, Bosch and now Sears/Craftsman have one. They are generally called a
"multi-tool". The can flush cut wood, trim, tile grout, sand, scrape. I have a Dremel and it is more than adequate for DIY projects but not really for commercial/professional applications. The wood blade is only 3/4" wide so long cuts take a lot of time.

Fein is about 4-5 times as much as the Dremel, so you have to consider what you will use it for and how long...they are all very handy tools; unfortunately many of the replacement blades are proprietary so once you decide you are kinda stuck with it.

the blade does not rotate it simply moves from side to side and it cost an absolute fortune.
Bosch make one now its about 170 GBP without the cutters.
its called a plunge cutter.

I've seen the same thing at Home Depot and Lowes, just not that brand they sell on TV. It's alot cheaper than the one on TV too.

Fein Multimaster.About $300. Many tool makers have the same type tool now. Beware of the cordless models since they run out batteries quickly.I have a Dremel and it works well. The cutting blades on all of them wear out/go dull quickly.
