Whats the best bike to get for an avid 17 yr old?

My son loves to ride his bike as excersise and just cruisin w/buddies. He doesnt ask for much and has a really old bike. I want to get him a new one for his b-day and have no clue what to get. Any help?
Hes 17. price is not really an issue.

kona, specialized, norco. good brands. you need to decide how much to spend and type of suspension he wants front or full? go to local bike shop ask sales/service for some direction.

Most brands have bikes at most all price points. But your question is very vague. What type of bike are you talking about? What is your budget? Is this for a 7 year old or a 40 year old?

Without that basic info everyone is just guessing. Beginners sometimes buy a $70 WalMart bike while others by may buy a $2000 bike.

You want to take him to the local bike shops and get a bike that is the right size. He can tell them were and how he wants to ride it. Please don't buy a bike and try to surprise him, chances are that it will be the wrong one. Don't buy a bike from Wilmar or any other department store, they are junk and wont last long.
