I'm a musician and I'd like to avoid martial arts with a lot of punching. I don't want to hurt my hands.

I have anger issues and I'd like to take up a sport that can help me bring out that anger in a healthy way. What's the best martial arts that can help harness that anger? Something where you feel like your beating the crap out of something.

Thanks

Boxing.

With proper equip. to protect your musical hands ;)

Even the biggest punchers can't hurt their hands even if they wanted to with proper gloves and wraps.

Take Kung fu or Karate. They discipline you. And they're used for self defense.

Most martial arts are about controlling anger. Most believe that anger is a weakness and clouds your judgement and impairs your ability to fight. Sure with some martial arts like Taekwondo or Shotokan it is okay to be aggresive but it is about controlled agression. Other than boxing I can't think of a martial art that embraces anger and rage. In fact, even in boxing whena fighter gets frustrated he starts to get sloppy and lose the fight. Just buy a punching bag or dummy (BOB) and buy hand wraps and 14 oz gloves and beat the cap out of it. The punching bag has always been, and still is my favorite. Nothing but sex gets rid of anger better than sinking a good left hook right into the heavy bag.

No don't get your anger or aggression on an innocent bag. What did the bag do you to you ? Nothing.Never beat the living crap out of something. I would say to you Control your anger because if you can't control your anger you can' control nothing.

Bros, if you have anger issues do not enter the ring or join any martial art - You will be the one that gets hurt.

The ring isn't the place to take out your aggression. Some days my aggression and temper helps me in sparring but most times not. I'm sucking wind when I'm pissed off. The days I'm relaxed, calm and collective I do awesome. In fact it feels like I can fight forever and I win most of my sparring matches.

You need things like Yoga and meditation. Use Muay-Thai for fitness, have fun and to be healthy. But going into a Thai gym with a bad attitude, you will quickly become a target.
