whats the best martial arts to study and master?

and why?
i want to be able to defend myself, i dont want to go out looking for trouble i just want to be able to disable my opponents in a efficient manner, i dont wanna hurt anyone i was looking into judo.
actually i wouldnt mind learning muay thai and delivering sagats tiger knee to someones stomach.

Krav Maga if you wanna be the ultimate badass... its the one the Israeli special forces use (They can survive) and is notorious for being just plain awesome....
