I used to use LimeWire on my last computer, but on this one it wont connect and everyone is telling me it's very harmful for computers anyway. I used Bearshare for a while and it connected fine, I don't understand why BearShare could connect with no problem but lime wire can't. I would even be willing to buy a subscription to something if I could be certain it was legal and I could connect, help please??

Well you could try to make LimeWire work. It can only really be because you haven't configured Windows Firewall, or you haven't configured your internet router/modem's virtual server configuration.

Because BearShare works, it suggests that either it is using passive mode and doesn't require incoming connections, or that you simply need to set up LimeWire in Windows Firewall. You should try that before diverting from your favourite.

Another couple to try are utorrent and emule if you can't get LimeWire working...

If you're keen for a subscription what about something like Apple Itunes or Napster? They will have excellent customer support and ultra fast download speed.
