What's the best type of water besides tap water to use for a fish tank?

Actually, at PETCO and PETSMART they have water you can buy that has the necessary chemicals and minerals that you need. Just buy and pour. And its reasonably priced and at room temp when you buy it so you don't have to wait around for it.

Why out of curiosity?

Tap water will also condition itself between 24-48hrs depending on the amount if i'm not mistaken. Fish obviously can't be in there during that duration.
Buying tap water all the time may get costly. I don't know how many gallons a biorb is, but......

Actually, you shouldnt use tap water straight out of the faucet. If you're going to use tap, make sure you either let it sit for 24 hours, OR, if you want to use it immediatly, get it into a coantiner and add Stress Coat to it (you can buy this at pretty much any pet store that sells fish products) Tap water has a lot of chemicals added to it that help us, but hurt fish. Any other type of bottled H2O or bottled water at fish stores is okay

DO NOT use tap water! Tap water is poisonous to fish! If you want to use tap water you must buy drops from the petstore to put in it to detoxify it before adding the fish. The best type of water to use is spring water. You can buy large jugs of it at petstores and other stores

the best water you can buy is from a local fish store, called RO water.

RO/DI water is the purest water you can use, while your tank is freshwater, alot of reef keepers buy fresh RO water an mix their salt into it, so go to any good LFS and ask for RO water. some RO fitlers only do 75 gallons per day, and some have a high rejection rate.

m 42,000 dollar system produce 8 gallons of RO water per minute. but that is car wash quality.
