Whats the deal with the 4 cylinder Jeep Wrangler YJ?

I'm looking to get a YJ and I was initially going for the 6 cylinder for the increased power, but a 4 cylinder was offered to me at a great price and in great condition. It is a 1990 and it is the 2.5 AMC 150 4 cylinder. If I go with the 4 will it be super slow? Will it have no like no acceleration or power? I'm not going to be using it for off road, 90% of the time I will be driving it in city streets just enjoying it. The most "off-road" will be going up Mt. Baldy, but even thats just up hill not off road. Any advice, pros/cons, will be much appreciated.
