What's with all this Phelps hypocrisy?

I keep on turning the news and see stories of Micheal Phelps and pot stamped to every new bulletin, seriously EVERY NEWS NETWORK. The dude smoked some pot, whoop de fuckin do, hes like what 23, while everyone else his age is binge drinking, his training his ass off and when he smokes, its like the whole world gasps. I'm pretty sure the latest stats show that 50% of all American teens try pot at one point, so he did it, it wasn't during competition time, so why does it matter? Would it be better if we saw a pic of Phelps doing a keg stand, at least that's legal. Not to mention Pot doesn't make you faster in the pool, it's not doping if it isn't illegally making him into the human equaliant of Shamu the fucking wale. So whats all the hype, something about kids looking up to him? My dad looked up to Jesus but that didn't stop him from being an alcoholic, why is everyone being such a prude about this, the dudes young and he can't even enjoy it, back in High School I probably smoked and drank more than Phelps, hell if you made a statue of Phelps using weed, I could lite that up in 3 hours tops, and that was me in High School, BLOODY HIGHSCHOOL.

Some math:
X= Micheal Phelps
Y= people's self esteem when comparing themselves to Phelps

X= A fucking dolphin
X+Pot= Like a clown fish or something, maybe a sea sail

X>Y
X+Pot<Y

So my question is this: Why is it that in a country where most of the population is on one brand of drug or the either are we singling out this dude, we need someone to make fun of? We covering for our insecurities and self realizations that this guy is 23 and has done things that make your entire lives look pointless? I'm fucking tired of hearing about Phelps, why can't anyone stop talking about him?

I hate to sound like a hippie, but...it's the government man! You can't grow prozac, xanax, or viagra in your backyard. If you could, you wouldn't need to purchase it, be taxed on it, and have to have overpriced health insurance just to afford it. You've been taught that natural drugs are bad and immoral, evil even, and you've been taught that synthetic lab made drugs are the right answer for everything. It's big business.
