When awards shows are 'taped' for broadcast, do they still shoot on videotape?

If not, what do they shoot with and on?
What I mean is, do they shoot on videotape or do they use digital photography? And if it is digital, how do they edit and in what format do they keep the 'tape'--is it CD, DVD, etc.? This would be for television NOT film as in movie.
