When describing movies/film, what does "cult" and "indie" mean?

Cult means it has a very small, but very devoted fanbase, such as the original Hairspray movie.

Indie movies are films made my independent producers, not huge film companies like Paramount and Universal.
 
i'm not sure about cult but indie usually means that they arn't really well known, not by the big producers. etc.
 
Cult - Small group of very devoted fans of the film.
Indie - A film made by a fairly unknown director with fairly unknown stars. These types of movies are usually ones that do not spend alot of money making the film and doesn't play at very many theatres around the world.
 
cult is just when you have a bunch of hardcore followers, atleast thats what i think it is like their legends nightmare on elmstreet and friday the thirteenth are cult films
or the wolfman dracula and frankinstine are cult classics
indie films are independant films like supersize me
one cult film is the blair witch project its simply a legend
 
Cult movies is a film that has acquired a highly devoted but relatively small group of fans.
Indie movies/or Independent movies is a film that is produced outside of the Hollywood studio system.

These movies are most of the time the best and worth watching.
 
I believe a cult movie is one which was not necessarily a big hit at the box office, but has a big group of followers who love the movie (i.e. "Rocky Horror Picture Show").

Indie is a movie by an independent film maker. No big production company. (I think.)
