When does the present "modern" gadget become old school?

Here is what happened to me today:
Till yesterday I had quite a modest cell phone (Nokia with a 2 megapixel camera etc) but today when I woke up, I went through my drawer and found my old phone (Nokia 3310) it was the latest in 1999, and thought to go with it today...

Later, and met with a friend of mine and he saw my "new" cell... and he in that moment said quote: "Old school baby, I like it..."

Which brings me to my question: "When does the present "modern" gadget become old school?"

The present modern gadget becomes old school when society finds an alternative that out preformes it. After a while when people see that old gadget they will think that its old school.
