When I burn an XviD encoded AVI onto a DVD will it play?

No, I'm not talking about directly burning the file onto there, I'm talking about turning it into a REAL DVD with chapters and such. I'm planning on doing it with Windows Media Center. Now, when I do this, will the Player play it? Will subtitles still be there? Will quality deteriorate?
