...time someone speaks? Personally, I think that's an distraction. I'm not deaf.

I have a Curtis brand flat screen 20 inch, with a DVD player on the side. It works pretty good but my only complaint is the words. Each time somebody in the movie says something, there's words on the bottom of the screen of what they're saying. Is there anyway I could erase that?

Thanks.

Either on your tv or on your dvd player (id check both) you need to go into settings and turn off subtitles/closed captioning

Two things to try:
Go to the 'menu' of the DVD. Find the link that says "languages" or "closed captions." Unclick that link.

Or use your television or dvd remote. Somewhere in the setup menu will be the button/link for 'closed captions." Unclick that.
