When moving Android Apps - how do you move all the information as well?

On apps such as 'Listmaster' and 'Due Today' or even such things as recipe apps - i can move the app from an old phone to a new phone by re-selecting it from my android store - but despite moving the folders on my computer to the phone folders, my apps are still blank, none of my information appears, and i don't particularly want to have to re-enter all the information again. There must be an easy way to transfer any details i've entered into an app on my original phone to the new one. How do i move the information such as shopping lists etc to the newly downloaded app?
