When somebody makes jokes of rape?

Do you think they might have been raped? I heard somewhere that victims of rape may sometimes make jokes of it to make it seem like nothing bad really happened to them. Or make other believe that it never happened to them. I heard this girl in class saying today that she is not gonna go outside to smoke at night bc "what if I get raped?" and she said it with a smile. It sounded weird. Why would you make a joke like that?
 
The guy that just actually joked about rape is disgusting.
To the question: I don't think a girl is actually make a joke... it might sound like it... but being a woman, rape is something you think about every time you go somewhere you are unfamiliar with and every time you walk through a dim parking lot by yourself. I have never been raped but it is a something that I have to watch out for almost everyday. I know people that have and they would never make a joke about being raped. It isn't funny at all. I'm usually one with compassion but those who rape are the scum of the earth and that isn't a term I use lightly. And it disgust me that some guys think it is such an unimportant matter they can make jokes about it. Rape traumatizes and can ruin someone's entire life. Why are you thinking about rape so much? Never joke about it. Even if a girl does, she won't think it is funny at all if you do.
 
People are sometimes afraid of things they don't understand. I would say this girl was never raped.

I was sexually assaulted before, and i don't find it remotely funny, and would never make a joke of it. Because of my experience, i have encountered others who have gone through the same thing. They don't think it's humorous, either.
