being found in Scripture,? don't they sound a lot like the Pharisees when they attacked Jesus for not adhering to Scripture according to their take on it?
Did the Old Testament say to love your enemies and to do good to them or did it say an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth?

Jesus said that the Pharisees substituted the doctrines of men (and tradition of men) for the scriptures.

Check it out. You have it reversed.

Pharisees based their teaching on what their leaders taught.
The Catholic Church teaches what Popes and Cardinals have taught and not what is in the Bible.
Some of their teaching is Biblical but most is tradition.
 
No, we tend to focus on Christ's admonition to not add or subtract from the scriptures. How do you Catholics fit those Papal decrees with our Savior's words?
