whenever a pop up ad from the internet comes up and i "x" it out, it closes...

...everything...? Its reallyyyyy nnoying at this point...whenever an ad pops up from an internet I have open, it exits out of the internet too -_- i would love to know how to stop this, especially since i know not many computers do this normally
 
just ignore the ad until your done. just click on your browser when the ad pops up and continue doing things. and you should probably change your homepage. that should stop it from popping up.
 
Click back on your browser and you should be set. Also, looking at a different web browser might be a good idea. I'm using Mozilla Firefox and it works great with pop-ups.
 
Some popups throw an a deliberate exception if you close them. This is an anoyance they hope will stop you from closing them.

But it tells you something else, that when you allow popups you are allowing their code to run, it is code that is caged (as in java), but still not desirable.

Switch on your popup blocker. I know that this will mean that some legitimate sites that you use will also be blocked, such as some java chat boxes. So you go into the popup blocker settings and allow the web sites that are legitimate.

In security always think like this

"Deny everything, then allow specific actions"
Your security software always works in that way, you should too.
