Where are some great US travel/hiking destinations?

Hi there! I want to travel the whole country and I'm trying to put together a list of things to do in each state. I love hiking, wilderness and adventures, and I love things that make a town unique and memorable. Do you have any suggestions for places to visit?

The Brothers or Lena Lake in Washington State.
There are many in California, just google those. Joshua Tree has some good rock climbing (bring A LOT of water!)

Also, there is something called the Pacific Crest Trail. It goes from Mexico all the way to Canada.
